Using the DealGround MCP connector with Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants

How to connect DealGround to Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Grok Bot, what it can do, and what it costs in credits.

By the end of this article you will have DealGround connected to Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Grok Bot and know what you can ask it to do. Other AI assistants that support custom MCP connectors can connect using the same URL.

What the MCP connector is

MCP lets an AI assistant work directly with your DealGround account — searching properties, building lists, and running ownership research — from inside the chat interface you already use. Because it runs against your account, it respects your subscription, your credits, and your team's private documents.

Before you start

  • A paid DealGround plan. The connector works with any paid DealGround subscription, yours or your team's, including during a trial.

  • The connector URL: https://mcp.dealground.com/mcp

  • Your DealGround login. You'll sign in to DealGround during setup. Use the same email, and the same sign-in method (for example Google), that you use for the DealGround app.

Connect DealGround to Claude

This works on claude.ai and in the Claude desktop app, on any Claude plan (Free plans can add one custom connector). On a Team or Enterprise plan, see the note at the end of this section.

1. Open Connectors. In Claude, click Customize in the left sidebar, then open the Connectors tab. You can also go straight to claude.ai/customize/connectors.

2. Add a custom connector. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.

3. Enter the DealGround details. Enter DealGround as the name and https://mcp.dealground.com/mcp as the MCP server URL, then click Continue. Keep the sign-in settings Claude detects and click Add.

4. Sign in to DealGround. On the Application Access Request page, click Allow Access, then log in to DealGround. If the sign-in page doesn't open, go to Customize → Connectors → Yours, find DealGround and click Connect.

5. You're connected. DealGround now has a check mark in your connectors list. Click it to see its Tool permissions: by default, Claude uses DealGround's read-only tools without asking, and asks for your approval before it creates, changes or deletes a saved list, analyzes a list with AI, or runs ownership research.

On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan? Only an Owner can add a custom connector. Your Owner adds DealGround once under Organization settings → Connectors (Add → Custom → Web) with the same URL. Each member then opens Customize → Connectors, finds DealGround (labeled Custom) and clicks Connect.

Connect DealGround to ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to DealGround through Developer mode, which is available on ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans. Set it up at chatgpt.com in your web browser. On a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, your ChatGPT admin may need to allow Developer mode first.

1. Turn on Developer mode. Open Settings → Security and login and switch on Developer mode. ChatGPT labels it "Elevated risk" because it lets you add connectors that aren't in its directory, which is how DealGround is added.

2. Create the app. Go to Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins), click the + next to the search bar and choose Create app.

If a New Plugin window asks you to drag and drop a file, click Create MCP App in its bottom-left corner instead.

3. Enter the DealGround details. Enter DealGround as the name. Under Connection, keep Server URL selected and enter https://mcp.dealground.com/mcp. Leave Authentication set to OAuth. Tick I understand and want to continue, then click Create.

4. Sign in to DealGround. On the DealGround Application Access Request page, click Allow Access, then log in to DealGround.

5. You're connected. DealGround now appears under Settings → Plugins.

6. Use it in a chat. Start a new chat and ask your question, mentioning DealGround. If ChatGPT doesn't use it, click + in the message box and select DealGround (it may be under Developer mode). ChatGPT asks you to confirm before DealGround changes anything in your account, such as creating a saved list.

Connect DealGround to Perplexity

1. Open Connectors. In Perplexity, open Settings → Connectors. In some versions this is labeled Apps and Connectors.

2. Add a custom connector. Click + Custom connector and choose Remote.

3. Enter the DealGround details. Fill in the form:

  • Name: DealGround

  • MCP server URL: https://mcp.dealground.com/mcp

  • Authentication: OAuth

4. Confirm and add. Check the risk acknowledgment box and click Add.

5. Sign in to DealGround. Sign in to DealGround when prompted and approve access.

Using it. Perplexity doesn't turn connectors on for every conversation automatically. In a new thread, click +, open Connectors and sources, check DealGround, then ask your question. To test the connection, ask something only DealGround can answer, such as "Find retail properties for sale in Denver under $5M."

Connect DealGround to Grok Bot

Grok Bot has no settings form to paste an MCP URL. You add DealGround by asking the bot in chat to add a custom connector.

1. Open Grok Bot. Open Grok Bot (web or desktop app) and start a chat with your bot.

2. Ask it to add DealGround. Ask it to add a custom MCP server. For example: "Add a custom connector named DealGround at https://mcp.dealground.com/mcp"

3. Confirm. When the bot shows a confirmation card or asks to add it, confirm (say Yes).

4. Sign in to DealGround. Complete the DealGround sign-in from the connect/authorize card when it appears, and approve access.

5. Use it in a new message. After it's connected, start a new message (new tools are available from the next message). Mention DealGround in your request, or attach/select the connector if your bot UI offers that. To test the connection, ask something only DealGround can answer, such as "Find retail properties for sale in Denver under $5M."

Notes. Cursor marketplace Plugins settings do not apply the same way for a custom remote URL — tell the bot to add the custom server with that URL. A connector added only in Cursor IDE mcp.json does not show up in Grok Bot; add it in Grok Bot separately.

What you can do with it

  • Search for properties using the same filters available in the app.

  • Look up a specific property by address, and pull its full detail — title, tenants, transaction and mortgage history, and brochure data.

  • Read documents attached to a property, including offering memorandums.

  • Create and manage saved lists, including saving a whole set of search results.

  • Look up an owner's other properties to map a portfolio.

  • Run ownership research on a property or a list.

  • Analyze a saved list with AI.

Because it is a connector, you can combine it with others. A common pattern is researching owners in DealGround and pushing the results to a CRM connector in the same conversation.

Some requests to try:

  • "Using DealGround, find retail properties in Austin, TX with a Starbucks tenant and save them to a list."

  • "Look up [address] in DealGround and summarize its tenants and sale history."

  • "Who owns [address], and what else do they own?"

Credits

Everything the connector does is free except ownership research (finding an owner's name and contact details), which spends credits from your team's balance at the same rate as the app. Owners you've already researched cost nothing. Before any credits are spent, your assistant tells you the cost and asks you to confirm. Research usually takes 1–5 minutes.

Troubleshooting

"I can't find DealGround in the connector list." DealGround is added as a custom connector, not picked from a directory. Follow the steps above with https://mcp.dealground.com/mcp.

"DealGround MCP requires a paid DealGround subscription." The connector is available on paid plans, including trials. Upgrade at app.dealground.com/pricing, then connect again.

Sign-in fails, or the connector says your sign-in is invalid or has expired. Disconnect DealGround in your AI tool and connect it again — in Claude, open DealGround under Customize → Connectors; in ChatGPT, open it under Settings → Plugins. Signing in again on the DealGround website doesn't fix the connector. Use the same email as your DealGround account; if you have accounts under more than one email, use the one your subscription is on.

ChatGPT doesn't show "Create app". Check that Developer mode is on (Settings → Security and login), then refresh the Plugins page. On a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, ask your ChatGPT admin whether Developer mode is allowed.

Your assistant isn't using DealGround. Mention DealGround by name in your request, and check that the connector is turned on for that chat.

For anything else, email [email protected].
