By the end of this article you'll know the difference between a saved list and a saved search, what each one emails you about, and where to switch those emails on or off.

The short version

A saved search remembers your filters and an area. Each time you open it, DealGround runs it again, so new properties that match show up. Its alert tells you about new properties that match.

A saved list is a fixed set of properties that you picked. It only changes when you add or remove properties. Its alert tells you when something changes on a property already on the list: a new tenant, a sale, a loan nearing maturity, or a lease coming due.

Use a saved search to catch new deals. Use a list to work through the properties you care about and keep an eye on them. Many people use both: a saved search turns up a property, they add it to a list, and the list is where they research owners and export.

Alerts on a saved search

  1. On Explore, set at least one filter and frame the map on your market. You can also draw a shape; see Drawing a search area on the map.

  2. Click Save Search in the filter bar.

  3. Name the search and leave Email me updates on.

To turn alerts off later, go to Saved Search in the top menu and use the three-dot menu on the search's card. For which filters alerts apply and the other details, see Saved searches and email alerts.

Alerts on a saved list

Open the list and click the bell next to its name. Or, on My Lists, choose Manage alerts from the list's three-dot menu.

Turn on Enable alerts, then pick what you want to hear about:

  • Tenants: new tenants reported at properties on the list.

  • Transactions: new sales or recorded transactions.

  • Mortgage: debt approaching maturity. Pick one or more windows: 1, 2, 5, or 10 years.

  • Lease terms: leases coming due, with the same choice of windows.

Mortgage and Lease terms need at least one window before you can save. The digest is weekly and shows up to 50 properties per list.

Three things to know:

  • New lists start with alerts on. Lists you create in DealGround, including ones made by a bulk upload, start with Tenants and Transactions switched on. If you don't want the email for a list, open Manage alerts and switch Enable alerts off.

  • Alerts belong to the list's owner. Only the owner can change a list's alerts, and only the owner gets the email. If a teammate shares a list with you, its alerts still go to them.

  • List alerts need a paid plan. On a free account, the bell opens an upgrade prompt.

Choosing which emails you get

Go to Settings > Email notifications. All email notifications is a master switch, and below it is one switch for each email:

  • Saved searches: weekly alerts when new properties match the searches you've saved.

  • Saved list alerts: updates on tenants, transactions, mortgages, and leases for properties on your saved lists.

  • Weekly upload recaps: a Monday summary of every property your team uploaded in the past week.

  • Weekly brochure automation uploads: a weekly summary of brochures your team brought in through email automation.

  • Viewed property updates: a weekly digest of new listings, mortgages, and sales on properties you've viewed.

An alert only reaches you when both switches are on: the one on the search or list itself, and the matching one on this page. If your team admin has turned a category off for the whole team, it shows as locked.
