By the end of this article you'll know how to research the owners of every property on a list at once, what it costs, how long it takes, and where the results show up.
Before you start
Build a saved list of the properties you want owners for. A list holds up to 2,000 properties. See Saved lists: creating, sharing, and exporting.
Check your team's credit balance at the top of the page. A run uses up to one credit per property.
Run it
Open the list from My Lists.
To research only some properties, tick their checkboxes. If nothing is ticked, the whole list is researched.
Click Owner Info next to Export all, then choose Research current owners. To find the people who sold, choose Research previous owners instead.
Check the number in the confirmation, then click Confirm.
What it costs
One credit per property, and only when we find a phone number or an email. When you confirm, DealGround holds one credit for each property in the run. When the run finishes, you're charged only for properties where it found a phone number or an email. The rest of the hold goes back to your team's balance.
Properties your team has already researched are skipped. They cost nothing and aren't counted in the confirmation.
Government and institutional owners aren't researched, and you're not charged for them. Institutional owners are banks, public companies, and funds. These properties show Government owner or Institutional owner.
Short on credits? The confirmation will tell you. Team admins can buy more with Buy credits. Other members need to ask their admin. See What happens when you run out of ownership credits.
How long it takes
The confirmation says a run can take up to 10 minutes. Results fill in as they arrive, so you can start working the list before the run finishes. While it runs, the button reads Retrieving... and a Retrieving owner info notice stays on screen. When it's done, you'll see Owner info is ready with a Back to list link.
You can leave the page while it runs. The research carries on, and the results will be on the list when you come back.
A few lookups need a second pass. If a property shows Under review, we couldn't find a phone number or an email automatically, and our research team looks into it. You aren't charged for it. If the team finds the owner, they add it to the property, and one credit is charged at that point.
Where the results show up
On the list. The owner columns fill in: Owner Name, Owner Address, and Primary Contact Name, Title, Email, and Phone. A previous-owner run fills the Previous Owner columns. If you don't see these columns, add them with Customize View. The summary at the top of the list shows Owner researched and With contact counts.
On each property. Open a property to see its owner, contacts, and research notes.
On the Owner Info page in the top menu, which keeps every owner your team has researched.
In exports. Export all includes whichever owner columns are showing in your view.
Results are shared with your whole team, and nobody pays twice for the same property.
Researching previous owners
Research previous owners finds the people who sold the property. It only works when the previous owner has a complete mailing address of its own that isn't the property's address. If some of your properties don't meet that, the menu tells you how many will be skipped.
